Dear visitor,
Welcome to the website of Mind The Brain, the annual neuroscientific symposium of the Research Master in Neuroscience & Cognition of Utrecht University. The upcoming edition of the symposium will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of May 2012 at the University Medical Center Utrecht.
The symposium aims to be a podium for anyone interested in neuroscience and cognition to exchange knowledge, experiences and ideas in a relaxed scientific setting. Several speakers will be selected from the master’s student body to orally present their research projects, and poster sessions will be held during which other students from the spectrum of neuroscience and cognition present their research. These presentations and poster sessions will be interspersed with keynote lectures held by internationally renowned speakers. Recent editions featured fascinating lectures by speakers, such as Prof B. Everitt from Cambridge University, Prof. Sergio Delle Sala from Edinburgh University, Prof B. Keverne from Cambridge University and Prof. Dick Swaab from the University of Amsterdam.
This year the symposium has the common theme of Neurological Disorders, within which a wide variety of topics will be presented on both days. We are honored to announce that Prof. Ben-Ari has been confirmed as one of our keynote speakers. Ben-Ari is one of the leading researchers in the field of epilepsy, is founder and honorary director of the INSERM Mediterranean Institute of Neurobiology in France and has won multiple scientific awards. Dr. Geurts (VU Medical Center Amsterdam; KNAW Jonge Akademie) has also confirmed his presence at the Mind The Brain Symposium 2012. He will be speaking about his exciting research in the field of primary neurodegenerative diseases, focusing on multiple sclerosis. Last, but not least, we have confirmed Prof. Laureys as our third keynote speaker. He will speak about his widely acclaimed research concerning coma patients.
The 2012 Mind The Brain Symposium organisation committee is eager to present you with an inspiring symposium. We hope to see you in Utrecht on the 22nd and 23rd of May.
